Research Psychiatric Center’s Stephen Jolly Receives 2012 NAMI-KC Professional Award
November 30, 2012
Stephen Jolly, director of business development at Research Psychiatric Center (RPC)—part of HCA Midwest Health System, Kansas City’s largest healthcare network—was presented with the 2012 NAMI-KC Professional Award at the 24th Annual NAMI-KC Awards Ceremony and 12th Annual Crisis Intervention Teams (CIT) on November 8. NAMI—the National Alliance on Mental Illness—and its Kansas City chapter recognize professionals for their commitment and dedication in the mental health field each year with the prestigious award.
Jolly currently serves on the NAMI-KC board as a non-member representative and helps raise funds for the chapter. He is also instrumental in working with several mental health service organizations to offer support group meetings and related events at Research Psychiatric Center for those suffering from mental illness.
“Research Psychiatric Center is pleased that Steve Jolly has been recognized for his leadership in the field of mental health,” says Richard Failla, chief executive officer of Research Psychiatric Center. “We are committed to providing compassionate, high-quality and evidence-based services and best practices in behavioral health, and Steve exemplifies those values.”
Research Psychiatric Center provides a full range of inpatient psychiatric services, including group and individual therapies, expressive therapy, as well as social service, nursing and pharmacy support.
“Steve has worked diligently for the past few years to ensure that Research Psychiatric Center incorporated numerous NAMI-KC programs into their organization,” says Guyla Stidmon, executive director, NAMI-KC. “We currently hold Family-to-Family programs, support groups and In Your Own Voice presentations at RPC. Steve currently serves on NAMI-KC Fund Development Planning program and has been critical in securing additional community support for our organization. Thanks to Steve, NAMI-KC has made many new inroads to the community.”
“Advocating for people suffering from mental illness and offering support for their families is a lifelong passion,” says Jolly. “This award is the result of a collaborative effort with my colleagues at Research Psychiatric Center. We have an unwavering commitment to provide quality and accessible patient care to meet the ever-expanding behavioral health needs of adolescent, adult and senior patients in the Greater Kansas City metro area.”
In October, Research Psychiatric Center was awarded the 2012 Missouri Quality Award (MQA), the official state recognition for excellence in quality leadership. The annual awards, given by the Excellence in Missouri Foundation, are modeled after the prestigious Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award. The MQA is recognized as one of the strongest state-level quality award programs in the country. Research Psychiatric Center is the only Kansas City-area healthcare facility to receive one of two statewide 2012 Missouri Quality Awards and the only freestanding behavioral health facility to ever win the MQA.
